The abrasion resistance of UHMWPE is 4-7 times that of ordinary steel pipe, 27.3 times that of stainless steel, 6 times that of nylon, and 4 times that of ordinary polyethylene. In addition, UHMWPE’s wear resistance allows it to be used for long periods of time in high wear environments, reducing the frequency of maintenance and replacement and lowering production costs.

1) Outdoor emergency fishing line and utility rope.

UHMWPE is highly resistant to abrasion and can extend the wear period considerably compared to nylon and polyester fibres.

UHMWPE micro ropes can be used as whipping or repair ropes when ropes or load-bearing equipment are prone to rapid wear due to severe friction with wood and rock.

2) Paragliding Cord / Kite Surfing

UHMWPE Superfine is the favourite paragliding line, with less than 1% stretch under working load and minimal elasticity, allowing the paraglider to react quickly and resisting deformation under load for a longer service life.

Zero water absorption helps to maintain its unrivalled qualities in wet conditions (flying a kite on the beach).

The self-lubricating smooth surface makes cords less likely to tangle and sewing and stitching a breeze.

3) Hammock Rope

UHMWPE has a high specific strength and high specific modulus, which is more than ten times that of steel wire of the same cross-section, and a specific modulus that is second only to that of extra-grade carbon fibre.1 This means that it is able to withstand a high tensile force while maintaining a low weight, which makes it ideally suited for use in hammock ropes.

Secondly, UHMWPE has a low density of 0.97 to 0.98 g/cm3, which allows it to float on water.1 This property makes hammock ropes easier to use and less likely to sink.

In addition, UHMWPE has excellent impact resistance and cut resistance, low elongation at break, large work of fracture, and a strong ability to absorb energy.1 This makes the hammock rope more durable in the process of use, and able to withstand a variety of external forces of impact and cut.

Finally, UHMWPE also has good abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and UV radiation resistance.
